Apprenticeship Program – A Job in Six Weeks
The Apprenticeship Program is an “on the job training” model whereby participants work on site with sponsoring employers. Initially, the apprentice will work on a trial basis within the employer’s office, while gaining valuable experience and being evaluated for permanent employment.
The program will run for six-week intervals, of which the first two weeks at a CHI facility will provide specialized employment preparation that caters to the needs of the different employers. This process will effectively screen applicants and insure a high job entry rate. Once trainees are placed on the job, employers will assess performance for the first couple of weeks and upon their satisfaction offer a permanent position. Those who are not hired will continue to coordinate job search efforts with CHI’s Employment Specialist team for the remainder of the program.
Currently, the sponsoring employers are from the health care industry, but CHI continues to seek out companies from a diverse cross section of businesses. This will allow a greater range of employers to take advantage of this free service.
