FREE COURSE

Administrative Specialist

Funded by the Westchester County Department of Social Services, this is a computer-based, skills-enhancing, vocational education course.  Administrative Intake Computer Specialist instruction offers training in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, Outlook, Publisher, Database Reporting, Customer Scheduling, E-mail and Enhanced Customer Service Techniques.

CHI’s Career Services Administrative Intake Specialist program meets local job market demands by providing a customized training program that leads to employment in one comprehensive training model. The Administrative Intake Specialist training is enhanced Customer Service with emphasis on telecommunications, coupled with traditional understanding of office computer related training. The classroom instruction is computer-based, utilizing a training agenda developed specifically by CHI.

The program will be held for eight (8) weeks of full day classes, for a total of 280 hours, conducted Monday through Friday 9:00 am to 4:30 pm.  The first six weeks (210 hours) will consist of classroom training.  Two additional weeks (70 hours) of intensive job search activities will be included for the students to better assist them in their transition from students to job seekers.  Since the training program is essentially employer-linked, it is designed to facilitate an efficient training module without the lengthy traditional educational process.

Skills training, case management, job readiness and employment searches will be part of the curriculum. Students who qualify will also be engaged in a supervised 45-day job search period in an effort to increase participation and employability.

Participants will be able to gain a basic understanding of Computer Applications, confidently navigate through Microsoft Office applications, type at least 30-40 wpm and have working knowledge of e-mail correspondence. By end of the training, individuals will be able to have a proficiency in Enhanced Customer Service Techniques, experience in Intake Procedures, Data Entry and Consultation. Currently, this program is available for those receiving assistance from the Westchester County Department of Social Services.

Overall, CHI has improved its Administrative Intake Specialist Training services by customizing lesson plans, increasing employer linkages and providing intensive job search activities. The proof is in our over 90% completion rate and job placement. CHI hopes to nurture the confidence of students, allowing them the ability to obtain job specific skills, improve marketability and develop a clear path to accessing employers directly.  CHI’s training and expanding employment linkages greatly improve their prospects for increasing earning potential and achieving self-sufficiency.
